Jessica Jones; between the hero and the villain

jessica-jones-netflix

Marvel and Netflix working together might be the best thing ever. The two franchises are both amazing storytellers and they make each other even better. Marvel became deeper and more based on character, Netflix focused on one storyline. AND IT WAS EPIC!

Jessica Jones is not just a story about a superhero vs. a villain. It’s the story of the people in between, about the humans (with superpowers). Jessica is the most relatable and real character in the marvel cinematic universe so far. She has the ideals of a hero, but with the mindset of your everyday person with some serious trust issues. This causes for her to be bad ass and just overall amazing.

David Tennant plays the part of the bad guy, Killgrave (could his name be anymore obvious?) and he is the best marvel villain I have ever seen (sidenote: I never counted Loki as a villain so he doesn’t count). Inside I knew I should have hated him and I sort of did. But he had a way of getting to you, even without using his super scary power (mind control). I loved him, I hated him, I was scared of him and I wanted to hug him all at the same time. He was insane and he did needed to be stopped, but still, part of me wanted him to win.

“They say everyone’s born a hero. But if you let it, life will push you over the line until you’re the villain. Problem is, you don’t Always know that you’ve crossed that line” -Jessica

I could go on and on talking (read: ranting) about how good the show is, but there is only way you will believe. Go to your netflix and watch the show, I promise you that you will get addicted. If you are doubting, check out the trailer here. But I must give you a warning, there are some sex scenes in the show.. So… if you’re too young for that stuff… Wait till you are old enough..

Dream High 2: a Wattpad story come to life

She was his biggest fan. He transferred to her school. They fell in love…. No, this is not a One Direction fanfiction, but the plot of Dream high 2!

Dream High 2 is the sequel of Dream High (A Korean drama series). It’s set years after the events of the original story and follow a completely new cast of characters that attend Kirin High school of Arts.
The story stars with the introduction of a new law, which forced underage kpop stars to attend school and five kpop stars end up at Kirin. One of them is JB, the main characters (Shin Hae-Sung) idol/obsession. And from the moment the two meet, there is a special kind of spark between them.

Personally, I loved Dream High 2. It is cheesy as fuck, but in a way that it works. But maybe my love for it is based on JB who is played by.. You guessed it, JB from the band GOT7. This whole show is literally a GOT7 fanfiction brought to life. And that is something that every fandom deserves.

Even though this whole thing was a fanfiction, I didn’t like Shin Hae-Sung and JB together. I preferred JB with his ex, kpop idol Rian. I believe Rian and JB had much more chemistry and a more healthy balance in their relationship. And it helps that Rian is my favorite character, I love her development from a bitch who thinks she is the best to a humble(ish) person who works hard to become the best. It was just beautiful to watch!

Just like Dream High, the center of this show was a love triangle. But Dream High 2 took it to a bit of an extreme with four different love triangles, it got so bad that even the other characters in the show complained they were tired of love triangles and just wanted people to fucking chose!

The original Dream High is better than the sequel, but both are lovely to watch! And a little bit painful… I like that both shows are centered around character development and music. It gives you a new insight in the world of kpop idols and for me, it made me glad that I’m not a idol…
I would recommend you watch both shows, if you love kpop or not. Because does it really matter what race the actors are if it’s a good show? I think not!

The shadowhunters permiere; ruining a great story

shadowhunters-banner

After a great book series and a amazing movie comes… A hilariously bad tv show.

I didn’t have very high expectations of “The shadowhunters”, not after seeing the trailer. It seemed a bit cheesy and not dark enough to match the books that I love. But I gave it a chance and watched the first two episodes. And the show succeeded to be even worse than my low expectations.

I feel like they are trying to make the story more family friendly, but that’s a tad bit hard when you are dealing with a world as dark as the shadowhunter world. This makes the story seem fake and cheesy. But the cheesiness also comes from the script. The lines these characters are given are just not lines the book characters would ever say! Especially Izzy, Izzy is so out of character that it feels uncomfortable to watch. The actress looks the part and she certainly is one of the better actors in this show, but the lines are just so bad. First of all, in the books Izzy is super bad ass and in the tv show she does nothing but walking around and look hot (I have to say that she is pretty damn hot). Also Izzy is pretty much a bitch in the books and in the tv show she is just really nice and honestly, that just doesn’t makes sence.

The acting in the show is also pretty bad. Dominic (Jace) delivers his lines without any emotion or sass and Jace should be incredibly sassy to the point where it’s almost annoying. And don’t get me started on Kat (Clary). I mean, she is not the worst actress I have ever seen. But she isn’t very good. She overdoes the scenes a lot and that makes everything feel even more fake than it already did! The only actors so that I like so far are Alberto (Simon) and Harry (Magnus). But there is one actor that is really killing it, and that is Alan van Sprang who plays Valentine. Valentine is the only believable character in this show so far to be honest…

The only thing I felt could safe this show is Magnus, but Magnus is not even there. He was there for like two scenes and the scenes with him in the books are just skipped over in the tv show. Which bugs me since Magnus is my favorite character in the books. In the tv show, Magnus fled as soon as he got the chance, which is something book Magnus would never do as book Magnus isn’t easily scared. I hope they are going to explain this some more and that Magnus gets a character arc or something, because he is said to be one of the main characters in the tv show as well. I hope we see more of him in the future.

Even though I’m a fan of the pilot and the second episode at all, I will probably still watch the first season. Given my love for the story and I hope it gets a season two purely for the reason that my OTP doesn’t gets to be cannon until season two. But honestly, so far I have been nothing but disappointed at the Shadowhunters tv show and I can only hope it gets better in the future.
